The University is required by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) to conduct a right-to-study check on every student who is not a British, Irish, Channel Islands or Isle of Man national. This is to demonstrate that they have the right-to-study in the UK and at the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ (including ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ International College).
The University must keep a copy of these documents and check regularly for any updates to students’ immigration status. The right-to-study check is done before enrolment and at the start of every new stage of a student’s programme.
Students demonstrate their right to study by providing the University with copies of immigration documents, a share code and their passport through an online form. The documents a student must upload depend on the type of visa they hold or their immigration status in the UK.
University systems will send students an automated email with a link to log into their Student portal. The Right to Study task will be accessed there. Students need to complete the required information and upload clear scanned images of their documents, including the information page of their current passport.
Once a student's right-to-study check has been completed, they will receive an email notification and can complete their enrolment task to enrol or re-enrol at the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾.
Dual nationals: Please note if you hold dual nationality and this was stated on your application you will be required to complete the Right to Study check.
