Whether you're grabbing breakfast before lectures, meeting friends for coffee, enjoying lunch on campus or treating yourself to something sweet, our cafes and restaurants have plenty to discover throughout the month.

Celebrate Plastic Free July

As part of Plastic Free July, we're continuing our commitment to creating a more sustainable campus by reducing single-use plastics and making environmentally responsible choices across our catering outlets.
We're proud to support the University's wider sustainability goals through responsible sourcing, waste reduction and sustainable food practices.

Enjoy National Ice Cream Month

Nothing says summer quite like ice cream. Visit Reservoir Café and enjoy a delicious ice cream, made locally in Devon using fresh, high-quality ingredients. It's the perfect excuse to take a break, relax by Drake's Reservoir and enjoy one of the best views on campus.

Make the most of National Picnic Month

With beautiful green spaces across campus, July is the perfect time to enjoy lunch outdoors.
Pick up freshly made picnic favourites from The Container, including:
  • Homemade meat and vegan sausage rolls
  • Traditional homity pies
  • Mini quiches
  • Freshly baked cakes and sweet treats
Everything is available to take away, making it easy to enjoy a picnic with friends in the campus park, Drake's Garden or beside Drake's Reservoir.

National Eat Beans Day – Friday 3 July

Beans are nutritious, affordable and packed with protein, making them a brilliant choice for a satisfying meal.
Celebrate National Eat Beans Day with some of our favourites across campus:
  • Start your morning with a traditional cooked breakfast and baked beans from Drake's Kitchen or John Bull Cafe.
  • Enjoy a comforting plate of beans and chips at lunchtime.
  • Choose a jacket potato topped with baked beans at Drake's Kitchen, John Bull Cafe or Reservoir Cafe.
  • Try our homemade mixed chilli beans special at Drake's Kitchen for our jacket potatoes or chips.
  • It's Fish Friday, so swap mushy peas for baked beans with your locally landed fish and chips. Students can enjoy this favourite for just £6.00.
  • Head to Loafers Deli for the Tex Mex. A refried bean sandwich filled with guacamole, salsa and crunchy tortilla chips for only £3.25 for students.

World Chocolate Day – Tuesday 7 July

Chocolate lovers are in for a treat!
Celebrate World Chocolate Day with our range of ethically sourced and premium chocolate products, including:
  • Fairtrade chocolate, now available from Loafers Deli.
  • , stocked across our campus cafes.
  • Homemade chocolate brownies and blondies, baked on campus using premium , which supports sustainable cocoa farming through the .
  • A freshly baked chocolate muffin with any hot drink from John Bull Cafe for just £3.50 after 14:30.
Choosing Fairtrade products helps support farming communities around the world while enjoying great-tasting food and drink.

National Cherry Day – Thursday 16 July

Add a fruity twist to your summer refreshment with a Cherry Blossom syrup in your iced tea from The Container. It's a refreshing way to cool down between lectures or while enjoying the sunshine on campus.

Love Parks Week - 24 July – 2 August

Summer is the perfect time to make the most of the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾'s outdoor spaces.
Take in the stunning views from Reservoir Cafe, enjoy a peaceful walk around Drake's Reservoir and  Drake's Gardens, or relax in the University's new park with your favourite takeaway lunch or coffee.
Every meal and drink from our cafes can be enjoyed on the go, making it easy to eat outdoors and soak up the summer atmosphere.

National Lasagne Day – Wednesday 29 July

Celebrate National Lasagne Day with one of our customer favourites at Reservoir Cafe. 
Our lasagne is made from scratch by our catering team, including freshly prepared pasta sheets, creating a comforting dish that's perfect for lunch.

International Day of Friendship – Thursday 30 July

Friendships are built over great conversations, and great coffee.
Treat a friend or colleague to one of our Fairtrade hot drinks and enjoy our Buy One, Get One Half Price promotion, available across participating campus cafes. It's the perfect excuse to catch up between lectures or during your lunch break.

National Cheesecake Day – Thursday 30 July

Finish the month on a sweet note with our indulgent Cheesecake Brownie, freshly baked on campus and available from The Container. Rich, creamy and irresistible, it's quickly become one of our most popular homemade bakes.
