Representatives from the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ have helped to launch Team ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾. The collaboration draws together key organisations across the city with the aim of ensuring residents of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ and the wider South West region benefit from its new role as a National Defence Growth Area.
Earlier in September, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ was one of five key national defence growth areas to be announced in the UK Defence Industrial Strategy.
Now the key players of what was Growth Alliance ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ have formally launched Team ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ and a plan to capitalise on unprecedented levels of investment and interest in the city’s role in defence.
The partners in Team ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ include the University, Babcock International Group, the Ministry of Defence, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ City Council, and City College ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾.
They were among over 100 delegates – including ministers, regional MPs and top civil servants – who attended the event at the Market Hall in Devonport and heard about the ambitions of a programme that aims to build long-term capability and prosperity.
